Acceptable Use Policy

VidWords provides tools to extract, view, export, summarize, and query publicly available caption data from videos, on a user's request. This Acceptable Use Policy governs how you may use the service and works alongside our Terms of Service.

Your responsibilities

• You are responsible for how you use content you extract. Only use content that you have the right to use, and ensure your use complies with applicable law, third-party rights, and the terms of the platform the content originates from (for example, YouTube's Terms of Service).
• Extraction is user-initiated and on a per-video basis. The service is intended for lawful purposes such as accessibility, note-taking, research, translation, and productivity.
• Transcripts belong to their respective rights holders. VidWords does not download, host, or redistribute video or audio files.

Prohibited uses

You may not use VidWords to:

• Infringe the intellectual-property, privacy, or other rights of any person or entity, or to reproduce or distribute content you are not permitted to use.
• Access content you are not authorized to access, or attempt to defeat access controls, authentication, or content protections of any third-party service.
• Circumvent or interfere with VidWords' rate limits, credit accounting, plan restrictions, or security features.
• Resell raw API access, or systematically build or distribute a dataset, in a manner that violates others' rights or applicable law, without a written agreement.
• Engage in any unlawful, deceptive, harmful, or abusive activity, or use the service in a way that could damage or overburden it.

Enforcement

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate this policy or that generate rights-holder complaints, and we cooperate with valid legal requests. We also honor takedown requests as described in our DMCA & Copyright Policy. We may update this policy from time to time.
