DMCA & Copyright Policy

VidWords respects the intellectual-property rights of others and expects its users to do the same. VidWords is a tool that extracts publicly available caption data from videos at a user's request; transcripts belong to their respective rights holders. We respond promptly to valid notices of claimed copyright infringement under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA), 17 U.S.C. § 512, and comparable laws.

Reporting a copyright concern

If you are a rights holder (or authorized to act for one) and believe content available through VidWords infringes your copyright, please send a written notice to support@vidwords.com (subject line: "DMCA Notice") including all of the following:

• Identification of the copyrighted work you claim has been infringed.
• Identification of the material you believe is infringing and enough information for us to locate it (for example, the exact URL on vidwords.com or the specific video ID).
• Your name, address, telephone number, and email address.
• A statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
• A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act on the owner's behalf.
• Your physical or electronic signature.

What we do when we receive a valid notice

Upon receiving a notice that substantially complies with the requirements above, we will promptly remove or disable access to the identified material. A rights holder may also request that a specific video be permanently blocked from the service.

Counter-notification

If you believe your content was removed in error, you may send a counter-notification to support@vidwords.com including the identification of the removed material and its prior location, your contact information, a statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good-faith belief the material was removed by mistake or misidentification, and your signature. We may restore the material as permitted by law.

Repeat infringers

We will, in appropriate circumstances, suspend or terminate the accounts of users who are repeat infringers.
